Head Chess CoachFIDE Master · peak rating 2318

Rohan has coached three students to national age-group podiums. He teaches with a demo board, terrible chess puns and one unbreakable rule: always ask “what is my opponent threatening?”

Postcards from this world

From learners in Grandmaster Orbit.

I beat my dad in 19 moves with a fork he never saw. Coach Rohan says always ask what they are threatening.

Before you ask

Frequently asked questions.

Absolutely — Module 1 assumes zero knowledge and beginners are grouped together. Kids who already play take a quick placement game and join at the tactics or openings stage instead.

All head coaches are FIDE-rated, most with FM or CM titles, and every coach clears our child-safety screening and teaching audition. Ratings are listed on each batch card.

The final module prepares students for rated online events, and we organise entry into an official rated tournament each quarter. Many students earn their first rating within a month of finishing.

Our weekly in-class arenas have music, commentary and tiny prizes. Losses are debriefed as “free lessons”, and nobody is ever knocked out — every child plays every round, every week.
